I hear only silence now

Don't ask me, please, about my opinions on minimalism. I could say to you: Minimalism is a waste, not a gain.

Be "minimal". Horrible.

One can difficulty take seriously the meaning of a minimal concept : Less is more until there is no more.

Composer Kenneth Kirschner was born in 1970 in Princeton, New Jersey, and began studying piano at the age of 5. Starting to study Composition at College briefly he found the academic atmosphere of the time (1988) to be too conservative and stifling, with little support for electronic music or for experimental approaches.

In 1989, Kenneth ultimately decided to start using the dates on which the pieces were begun, and it's a system he has pretty much stuck with ever since. “It causes a lot of chaos, of course, as even I sometimes can't tell which pieces are which! But it's something that I'm very happy with philosophically”.

His music combines the influence of the 20th century avant-garde (most importantly Morton Feldman or Cage) with the techniques and techs of contemporary electronic music and it has also been released on CDs from 12k and Sub Rosa.

When I think about Minimalism, if were not Mr. Kirschner I wouldn't see for miles: I would see trouble.

Use for abuse

Just stumbling sites I came over Info.com. A search engine that can display results from other fourteen different search engines.

Innocently I search for Segonquart obtaining this result.

NOTE: The page might be removed from Google's cache.

Under Delfin one can discover malware again, .

Do not visit delfin.winner.com.ru/ except if you would like to see a long, long Javascript redirecting you who knows where. Be careful.

NOTE: Do not visit either delfin-cocoa.winner.com.ru/. It's the same thing.

Damn! How did they knew I'm into Cocoa?

If you follow me, you follow danger.

Fine day for young ducks

Tonight, I would made few observations about CyberDuck.

Cyberduck is a favorite open source FTP client. Easy to use, and licensed under GPL, accomplishes its function in a polished and easy way.

Cyberduck supports multiple connections and can resume interrupted transfers. It also supports SFTP, Keychain, and Rendezvous (so connecting with your local network is a breeze). When you select a file for editing, Cyberduck opens the document in your chosen editor and uploads the changes automatically when you save. *

Cyberduck is free software, what means that and you can run, copy, distribute, study, change and improve the software; or you might also help to develop it sharing impressions and results at this forum.

Unnecessary to say, if you're a MAC OS X user, consider making a donation. A donation would not only demonstrate your appreciation of this software, but also help to advance development in the future. Or buy a badget.

This is not an advertisement, you little suspicious devil, it's just a suggest for taxes' policy.

What a summer

Last summer at Segonquart Studio we were involved in a project to design and develope Bergman's website.

Working with Mr. Bergman, in parallel with Pentagram, exquisitely conceived the inlay and cover for Lust by Bergman's CD; implementing pictures made by photographers Tony Miret and Thomas Probosch.

Satisfiying the passions and expectatives of musician and composer Xavier Bergman his/our site was nominated - and awarded - by design communities from all over the net ( read WWW here). You know who you are. Thank you very much for that. And now what?.

Well, this summer, we're focusing on Seitan Diseny Gràfic net project.

Client needs: Simplicity.
Client goals: Elegance.

Wait and see. We're coming back.

Ruby Red

Those of us, who will spend this summer - of our discontent - learning to rail on Ruby; share Yukihiro Matsumoto's words:

Don't underestimate the human factor. Even though we're in front of the computers, they are media. We are working for human, with human.

After re-reading this interview with Mr. Matsumoto, one can do anything but take seriously the process of learning Ruby.

Pills to kill your curiosity: More info here, and a philosophic dialog there.

Taking the dirt away VI

Google has released under BSD license his Javascript and XSL source here.

A note companion the source library explains the library works in these browsers:

- Firefox/1.0

- Internet Explorer/6.0

- Safari/1.2, Safari/1.3, Safari/2.0

- Opera/7.5, Opera/8.0

- Omniweb.

We could blame 7% population that uses IE5 on Windows or Mac are apart from this novelty. Well, the Internet and the Web don't work under the same rules they did before , don't you miss it.

As I had posted, most of the technology used in AJAX, belongs to the beginning of the Internet. Head Request, JavaScript, et al . We just had to wait until PCs and Laptops software were able to use this languages.

The time is now, and If you maybe are still one romantic person who prefers to keep on IE5, you better think of a change.

In case you didn't want to do it, you will be out of the game. Faster. Web 2.0 is here...to stay.

Blank Generation

As you may have noticed, a link to Blogwise has ben added to this diary today.

Blogwise is a "Directory of blogs worldwide, listed in various ways. All blogs are reviewed by a human before submission", as his founder Sven Latham describes it.

F for Fate

If you meet her tonight, she will say you salaries are going up again.
What seems to be a good new.

According to some clever minds, those who live by technology from technologic skills, will see their salary increased between a six and a ten percent if they don't throw their house out of the window and keep their mind cold.

Bussiness intelligence strikes over again.

At least, if you share your garden with a kangaroo.

Take Five

Jeffrey Veen wrote a book five years ago titled "The Art and Science of Web Design".

Covering topics like : architecture, usability, design, etcetera; Veen did open for us some doors to enlighten the dark room were the World Wide Web was enclosed.

Five Years later, Mr. Veen offers his book free in PDF format able to download here.

For Tomorrow.

Ashes to ashes

It was a long time ago we knew about the browserswar.

Users of Macintosh against Wintel forces of darkness. NN vs. IE. From Mosaic to Eternity.

Netscape developers became Gecko devs and Mozilla went down in the rodeo. Fifth Generation. All over again.

I had being involved into the new Netscape community- curiosity killed the alley cat - expecting something like the reinassance of the beloved browser. Chapter seven. It seemed that using the Gecko architecture, and with a deep knowledge of the Apple sphere, Netscape could reach the quotes it had had in the late ninetees and replace Firefox from the macusers' Dock. Nothing less far from this.

The "new" browser, formerly known as Netscape, does not have any kind of consideration to this lonely twenty-five milion humans that use, still, non-Window based computers for a living, or just for fun.

Nothing much to say. Really, this is not a plea it's just an announcement: Netscape 8.0 has born dead.

Letting the cat out of the bag

And now, ladies and gentlemen, something about Copylefts and holidays.

Between fifteen and seventeen of July, this summer, COPYFIGHT will take place in BCN. An event "for documentation and debate as a contribution to the general effort to inform cultural producers and consumers.

Panels and keynote presentations, workshops, screenings, download areas and legal counseling open to all visitors will take place in a decentralized way for three days focused on creativity in such areas as digital production, music, literature, and audiovisual culture."

It happens to me to read elastico monthly, something I do recommend to everyone who want to get informed and test its capabilities in Spaniard mags.

Oscar Abril Ascaso, the curator behind this groove, used to play guitar and sang. His band was named Barcelonautas Dada.

By the time, I used to play bass guitar. The band was named La Cultura del Whisky. Honestly speaking, we were much better. They enjoyed Echo, we enjoyed Joy.

That was in the 80's. A long time ago.

Beware honey

It has been said:

"Blogger: Term used to describe anyone with enough time or narcissism to document every tedious bit of minutia filling their uneventful lives. Possibly the most annoying thing about bloggers is the sense of self-importance they get after even the most modest of publicity. Sometimes it takes as little as a referral on a more popular blogger's website to set the lesser blogger's ego into orbit."

If you feel for searching and destroy, or you share the likes in style Arthur Schopenhauer made famous in the nineteen century; this place is for you.

It may be true, somewhat. Only for adults.

Human remains

This week Internet Vibes a russian non-futurist electronic magazine, has introduced Switch off the web, as one of the favourites for the winner's week. This documentary has been described in words like "Exquisitely crafted and incisive, Switch Off is an impassioned plea against globalization and corporate interests that put profits before people.". Last paragraph can give you a brief idea about the thing. Well.
Being figured in Internet Vibes' directory in healthy competition with other companies like Mercedes Benz Deutschland, Silicon Graphics, Nike - and a couple etcetera amongst others - is not that easy.

We are favourites this week; a real honour. How might I say "thank you" in russian?.

Flickr Fever

This is a test post from flickr, a fancy photo sharing thing.

Flickr is, without a doubt, the most exciting invention made last year that comes here to stay. I agree.

As you may noticed, I've added a Flickr selection of some works in the sidebar of this blog.
No pretention, please don't get me wrong. Just a little bit more fun in this new cyberPop epoch.

Ads included.

Apaga y Vamonos aka Switch Off, the documentary; is exhibited during this week in Galway.
Galway Film Festival has accepted the film under competition.

Sadly, I'm not going to be there. But you, as always, can visit the town, get a bread, and go to the cinema at night. Sure you will enjoy it.
