Mr. Delfí Ramírez, gently scope the background music, enhancing - or don't - Mrs. Ilaria's web site.

Gone with the year

Formerly Macromedia abandoned Freehand.

No more Freehand for the masses next 2006. Freehand has died in 2005.

That makes me happy.

First, I do like JavaScript and the potential use it has in Illustrator. I also do like SVG.

Second, I'm not an aficionado. I did work with Freehand, and it was good before MX. Aficionados, today, still use Freehand.

Third, Illustrator has friendly look if you work with, say, Photoshop: The palettes, the icons, the Stage, etcetera.

Four...No need in four.

Welcome to the Jungle

MacIE 5 was an awesome release, critically acclaimed and everything, with a good development team and a strong testing team, that included daily performance measurement.

From January until the en of times, there will be no more IE for Mac. WE won. After KDE's Safari I hardly can switch or travel in the net or the RSS jungle without this browser.

Safari is, in my modest opinion the best browser ever built. Far away from Firefox, maybe less pixelized than IE5 for Macintosh, but solid as a rock. And I'm still on Panther.

And Eastwood's firefox? Here some notes:

The default browser for my operating system is elegant, spyware-free, standards-compliant, quick, and easy to use. Why would a normal Mac OS X user download Firefox when Safari does what they want? Firefox on Mac OS X looks bad, doesn't load as quickly as Safari, and has some goofy bugs. I'm not saying that Firefox is a bad browser because it's not, it's terrific, but on Mac OS X it just doesn't wallop Safari the same way it wallops IE6.

Even trying it, I did myself find not better and precise words.

PowerPoint Kills Brain Cells III

At least, if you are a limited brain.

PowerPoint may be in for some surprise. Given the limited evolution of Microsoft-based presentation solutions and the wide adoption of Flash as an effective format for presentation distribution, it appears as if the presentation market is indeed open to new alternative solutions that may provide greater ease of use and more design "intelligence" than PowerPoint has been able to provide in the last decade. Given also the fast growth and development of new podcasting and video tools, it is likely that a new breed of software and services will further enable small independent publishers in the creation of presentations that integrate video, audio, images in a seamless, TV-like fashion.

Beta-matic

Audacity is a multi-track audio editor and recorder for Linux, Windows, and Mac OS X.

Even unstable, Audacity 1.3, beta version of Audacity, is ready to download. For testing purposes or not.

Some of the new features I would remark are:

1---- Improved Label Tracks: Good to improve your work; and

2----Moving clips between tracks: A missed one. Multiple clips per track was a missing one in previous versions of Audacity.

Support for Qicktime, with other flavours may take few of your time experimenting with Audacity's new beta version.

And, being a user as you are, give them feedback, report bugs, and become part of the Audacity user community.

Minor updates in CSS and content had been realizad today.
Main due to corrections in IE view. There was a strange behavior rendering lists and fixing font-sizes.

Enjoy it.

Information Design explained

This is for you, girl, to not beggar me more silly questions:

Information design is concerned with transforming data into information, making the complex easier to understand and to use. It is a rapidly growing discipline that draws on typography, graphic design, applied linguistics, applied psychology, applied ergonomics, computing, and other fields. It emerged as a response to people's need to understand and use such things as forms, legal documents, computer interfaces and technical information.

Information designers consider the selection, structuring and presentation of the information provider's message in relation to the purposes, skills, experience, preferences and circumstances of the intended users. To do this they need specialist knowledge and skills in graphic communication and typography, the psychology of reading and learning, human-computer interaction, usability research and clear writing, plus an understanding of the potential and limitations of different media.

Addenda:

Information architecture belongs to the realm of the abstract, concerning itself more with the structures in the mind than the structures on the page or screen. Information design, however, couldn't be more concrete, with considerations such as color and shape fundamental to the information designer's process.

I'm into Information Design. See it here. Rest is silence.

LUKE is a virtual magazine of Literature and contemporary creation of art that bets free opinion, a magazine that follows the commitment of the individual into society , and reflections of the modern artist and its surround.

Angel rules LUKE together with Kepa. Just finished an intensive PHP MYSQL training toAngel in Crea Formación this week. Funny and exhaustive.

Eight hours a day, three days last week were enough to settle the basis for the construction and development of future publishings of LUKE as a dynamic web site based in standards, and powered by MySQL and PHP.

Good Luck.
